All hedges require regular trimming to keep them dense and compact. Formal hedges need more attention to keep them in shape and looking good and besides looking good and keeping a kerbside appeal its an actual requirement where access to pedestrains or vehicles and local councils can issue fines to landowners who do not maintain their hedgerows that encroach these area’s.
Hedges provide a vital habitat, creating wildlife corridors that enable animals, birds and insects to thrive. A well maintained hedge not only provides a physical barrier but also acts as a windbreak and shelter from the worst of the elements. We can advise, prepare the ground, choose and plant appropriate hedging for domestic and commercial use, and provide after care.
When to cut a hedge
Pruning / hedge cutting times vary. As a general guide, new deciduous hedges are cut in winter whereas new evergreen hedges are cut in spring. Established hedges require cutting annually.
